Horn River Basin Shale Gas Play
Shale gas is natural gas produced from the fractures, pore spaces, and physical matrix of shales. Shales are the most commonly occurring type of sedimentary rock in northeast British Columbia and are theoretically suited to shale gas production. With the commercial success of several shale gas plays in the United States, British Columbia’s shales are now being recognized as potential reservoirs. The Horn River in the northeastern corner of the province, an area hailed as the largest shale-based natural gas play in Canada.
BV Land has been involved in the Horn River Basin Shale Gas Play and has provided land services to a number of companies in the area, including Stone Mountain Resources Ltd., RamsHorn Canada Investments Ltd., Apache Canada Ltd., Result, and Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd. Several big projects have included construction of a water treatment facility and a compressor site.
